Re-distributing materials supply chains for 3D printing

The final project report from the University of Oxford 3DP-RDM feasibility study “Re-distributing material supply chains for 3D printing” is now available to download.

The report by Alysia Garmulewicz, Matthias Holweg, Hans Veldhuis and Aidong Yang summarises the results of their two-part study. In the first part a system study was conducted of London’s waste streams, taking into account the amount, location and supply chain in the waste recycling process. This led to a focus on polymer waste streams and PET in particular. In the second stage a stakeholder survey was conducted in which participants were asked about perceived barriers to the use of local materials for 3D printing, and to identify potential solutions to these barriers.
