This blog is curated by Simon Ford, part of a team of academic researchers at the Institute for Manufacturing (IfM), University of Cambridge. The blog is home to two current projects.
The blog was started in January 2014 when Simon began working with Tim Minshall and Letizia Mortara on the RCUK-funded research project “Bit by Bit: Capturing the value from the digital fabrication revolution”, studying the emergence and adoption of 3D printing. Mélanie Despeisse also joined the project in October 2015.
Since January 2015, Simon is also working with Tim Minshall and Phill Dickens of the University of Nottingham, acting as Network Coordinator on the “3DP-RDM: Defining the research agenda for 3D printing-enabled re-distributed manufacturing” project.
The primary function of the blog is to tell you what we’re up to and what we’re learning during our research, along with sharing other interesting tidbits we come across.
Capturing the value 
Simon I attended your lecture on 3-D printing as part of the SFU Innovation series where you had mentioned an exhibition in Spring 2017. Could you provide more details – when, where and how to attend?
Hi Mandeep. Am I right in that you’re referring to the SFU BUS 450 “Managing Emerging Opportunities” course that I’m teaching? It’s currently underway with SFU students and is 7 lectures into the 13 week long course.
Hi Simon yes I believe this is the course. So my understanding is that this exhibition will come at the end of this course. Could you let me know the time frames and location for this event?
